As women, we can be in a constant search to find complete satisfaction. The search for fulfillment can lead to mindless eating, shopping, the need for a bigger house or approval of others, addictions, etc. I think we have all been in a place where our soul was hungry.
When we feel the need to look to unhealthy ways to fill a longing in our soul may our prayer be, Psalms 90:14.
“Satisfy me in the morning with your unfailing love that I may sing for joy and be glad all the days.”
There was a time when I literally printed this verse on note cards, posted it in picture frames and made it my screen saver on my phone for a daily consistent prayer.
“Dear Lord, help me to remember that I have your unfailing love and may it satisfy my soul completely.”
It was years later, while reading Psalms 90:17 that I had a “aha” moment. It says,
“May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us, establish the work of our hands for us, yes established the work of our hands.”
Here is how it came became clear for my purpose in life and family.
Yes, we can pray for the Lord to show favor. We can pray that He establish the work of our hands, but what does it say right before we pray for His favor?
I am to first be satisfied with His unfailing love. When we learned to grow in His love and be satisfied only in Him, our heart and desires change. I ask you today. What satisfies your soul? I pray you will be filled with His unfailing love and sing for joy and be glad all the days.
What do you think? I would love to know.
