I love the word “Knit”. To me that says that God took His time to create every detail when He formed us in our mother’s womb. Our skills, talents and abilities were woven into who we are today and are not by chance. I think, often times, we take them for granted and say, “that is just what I do.” We play it off like it is no big deal. But I believe God is waiting for us to see that it IS A BIG Deal and He wants us to use it. So here is the question? What’s your skills and do you use it for God’s glory?
For so many years I took my passion for health along with my gifts of encouraging, teaching and administration and put it in a box separate from what I thought the Lord would want me to do for Him. To me, it was something separate because that was “just what I do.” It was not until years later that I realized everything that I do is to glorify the Lord. My skills were a venue to share more of God and His glory with other people.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” Col. 3:23 (NIV)
My heart is not only for women to be healthy and fit on the outside (let’s get past the superficial), but healthy and fit on the inside, as well. Healthy women on the inside are walking in true freedom with a confidence in who they are in Christ and fulfilling His purpose. I must be honest and transparent… I did not always have it right and still continue to surrender my skills, dreams, fears and concerns to Him… which is not always easy.
My purpose is to take my skills that God knitted in my mother’s womb and use them to share how to be healthy God’s way with food and exercise and how to walk in with confidence God’s purpose for our life. I will still a work in progress. (Phil 1:6)
Today, I encourage you to pause and think about those special things inside of you that you may take for your granted. Ask yourself, “what is my skill and am I using it for God’s glory”?
