There is so much information these days about the benefits of quick workouts such asTabata or HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). We are learning that we can still benefit by splitting up an exercise routine into 10 minute sessions throughout the day as opposed to trying to get in 30-45 minutes at one time. But as busy women, you may agree that finding 10-15 minutes a day can even be a challenge.
As a busy woman, I have found there is one thing that has to be done first, for me, before I can find time to exercise.
I must find time each day to sit and get my thoughts together with daily quiet time with the Lord. If you are like me, you may have many thoughts running through your head each day. These thoughts can only cause me to worry, not actually get things accomplished. In one of my favorite books, A Confident Heart, author Renee Swope shares that Worry is an acronym for Worry Only Robs Rest from You. I have definitely learned that when I start my day with the Lord, He shows me how to best use my time wisely and not worry about things that are not important.
- where I need to give more of my time to serve
- how to stop worrying about things that were not important
- steps I needed to take to improve my physical health with the right motivation
I encourage you today to stop trying to fit in 10-15 minutes a day for exercise before you take some time for yourself in quiet meditation. Do you really not have that time? Or are you consumed with worrying about your daily tasks, how to care for others, your job or things that really doesn’t matter in the big scheme of life. With just a few minutes of quiet time, you may discover what your next step needs to be to improve your fitness physically, mentally and spiritually.
I would love to hear from you. What have you discovered during quiet time as a step that you can take to improve your physical, mental, spiritual or emotional health?
