To be fit, physically, mentally and spiritually is a vision for most women. Having the right exercise program and proper diet are essential, but that is easier said than done. Just trying “to do it” often leads to the on again and off again program….which is exhausting. Staying Motivated and Consistent can sometimes seem impossible.
I have discovered there are two factors that some women ignore or never think about that can be the key to sticking to their program and staying motivated.
1. Managing Your TIME Wisely
I see many women trying their best to eat healthy and exercise, but often times ignore the idea of learning how to manage their time. The truth is that the right exercise program with a healthy diet will not work for any busy woman if she does not make herself a priority and learn how to manage her time wisely. If the “time factor” is not addressed when putting together an exercise and diet plan, she will just continue the yoyo cycle of diet and exercise and never learn how to be consistent.
I believe for a busy woman to be fit physically, mentally and spiritually with a program she can stick with, a plan is needed that addresses her fitness, food and time.
2. Giving Honor to God.
If you are a woman who has given your life to God, have you surrendered each of these areas to Him? As women, we pray for God’s guidance in some areas of our life, but feel we can manage our body and time on our own. It may change your motivation to be fit physically and mentally when you look at your exercise, eating and time as an opportunity to honor Him.
God does give us guidance for managing our body with our fitness, food and time. Let’s see what His word says about each one.
3 John1:2 – Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
God designed us to live in good health inside and out and to be good stewards with the body He gave us.
Proverbs 31:17 – She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong.
This is one of my favorite verses. I envision this woman lifting weights and taking care of her body so that she can fulfill the calling God had on her life.
1 Corinthians 10:31 – So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
It can be easy to try and eat healthy for external reasons only, but if you look at eating healthy as a way to honor God, your motivation may change.
Ephesians 5:15-16 – Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Sometimes, we get so busy we don’t even stop to think about asking God to show us how to manage our time. We then wonder why things are so stressful and not going well with our health physically, mentally and spiritually. Good health does not just happen. As a busy woman, I must continue to learn how to take care of my body by managing my fitness, food and time to the best of my abilities and remind myself that my body and time are not about me, but a vessel to honor the Lord. Choosing to honor God with your body can be a source of motivation when you are not motivated.
Each week, my goal is to share information with you, as a busy woman, that will help your Fitness, Food and Time, the three components that are needed to consistently feel good about your body on the inside and out.
I am curious, of those three, what is your biggest challenge, as a busy woman, in sticking with a program.
